¡à Children¡¯s Traditional Korean Music and Ensemble Drum Performance

The performance combines traditional Korean music and percussion instruments,
allowing children to naturally experience Korean culture and art. It consists of the following elements:

1. Children¡¯s Traditional Korean Music and Ensemble Drum Performance
Traditional Korean music (Gugak) refers to the music of Korea's heritage,
where children learn the sounds and rhythms of Korea.
It is often taught through simple folk songs, creative Korean music, and traditional tunes,
making it more accessible to young learners.

The ensemble drum performance involves playing multiple drums together
in a form of percussion performance, using various sizes of drums to create a rich variety of sounds.
Depending on the size and tone of the drum, performers express different rhythms and dynamics,
helping children develop a sense of cooperation and rhythm.
Through simple movements and rhythms, children enhance their musical expression
and release energy through physical activity.

2. Educational Benefits
Traditional Korean music and ensemble drum performances are excellent ways
to develop a sense of rhythm, concentration, and teamwork.
Children not only learn about the traditional values of Korean music but also foster cultural identity,
while gaining confidence and improving their expression skills.
Since ensemble drum performances are conducted in groups,
children learn teamwork, as well as the ability to collaborate and communicate with others.

Below is a video of an ensemble drum performance conducted
under the direction of director Song-Ju Chi. Our school is also planning a similar performance.

¡à Children¡¯s Dorihwa Choir
The Dorihwa Choir is a prestigious children's choir in Korea, providing opportunities for children
to showcase their musical talents while engaging in a variety of musical activities that blend tradition and modernity. "Dorihwa" symbolizes the purity of nature and the beauty of flowers, which is reflected in the children¡¯s clear and pure voices.

The choir covers a wide repertoire, ranging from traditional to modern music,
and performs at both domestic and international events, demonstrating outstanding skills.

Choir members not only develop their musical technique but also learn teamwork and cooperation,
contributing to their social development.

This choir offers more than just musical education.
It helps children build emotional stability and musical knowledge,
while also having a positive impact on the community.

At present, Teacher Song-Ju Chi, who is the director of the Dorihwa Traditional Korean Choir,
leads a special activity class at the Princeton Korean School.
Through this, we aim to provide children with the opportunity to grow as choir members
and represent the community with pride.

Below is a video of the performance "Arirang, Heartbeat of the World!"
conducted by Teacher SongJu Chi.

We encourage your interest and participation in the Gugak class and the Dorihwa Choir recruitment
at Princeton Korean School!
