Princeton CGE offers a unique experience for children to develop cultural pride through traditional music and to grow by communicating and interacting with others. Students will learn to play traditional instruments such as the Gayageum and the Janggu, and study Korean traditional music. Through these classes, children will have the opportunity to participate as members of the 'Doriwha Choir,' showcasing their musical talents as part of Princeton Korean School¡¯s children¡¯s Korean traditional music ensemble. This program provides children with rich musical experiences through a variety of activities that blend tradition and modernity.
The Doriwha Choir is a representative Korean traditional music choir. The name ¡®Doriwha¡¯ symbolizes the purity of nature and the beauty of flowers, expressed through the clear and pure voices of children. The choir performs a wide range of repertoire, from traditional to contemporary music, and showcases their exceptional skills in domestic and international performances and various events. Additionally, members not only develop musical skills but also build teamwork and cooperation, gaining important social experiences.
Currently, at Princeton Korean School, Ms. Sonju Chi, the director of the Doriwha Choir, is leading special activity classes. Through this, we aim to provide children with valuable opportunities to grow musically as choir members and to shine within the community.
Below is a video of the performance "Arirang, Beating the Heart of the World!" conducted by Ms. Songju Chi.
We encourage your interest and participation in the Korean traditional music classes and Doriwha Choir recruitment at Princeton Korean School!
